Job Title: Policy & Public Affairs Advisor

Location: Hybrid role, office based near Great Portland Street, 1-2 days per week in office

Hours of Work: Full time, 35 hours per week, 9:00am to 5:30pm

Contract: 3-4 months

Salary: Hourly pay equivalent to £30,000 – £35,000 per annum (DOE)

Charity People are thrilled to be partnering with a professional body based in London. We are looking for a Policy and Public Affairs Advisor to manage relationships with key political and policy contacts and ensure that organisation’s messages and the needs of members are communicated to key political stakeholders in an effective and timely manner.

You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of Parliamentary and political processes gained through working in a political or Parliamentary environment. A good understanding of policy processes and how organisations can influence the policy making process. You will have strong organisational skills, ability to manage and prioritise own work and experience or interest in built environment policy an advantage.

Key Organisational Accountabilities

  • Commission research and assist with communication and production of material for publication and the web
  • Help deliver a successful engagement programme that includes visits to high-profile projects across the UK
  • Organise political events including parliamentary receptions and roundtables
  • Secure meetings with MPs, civil servants and politicians that helps the promote the political objectives of the organisation
  • Work with other members of the policy and practice teams to produce briefings for debates, events and political activities
  • Monitor and identify current and future political issues likely to affect the organisation
  • Organise the organisation’s presence at the Party Conferences
